Email Support
What is Web-based email? Is it secure?
Web-based email is electronic mail that can be sent and received from
a Web site on the Internet, using a Web browser (like Netscape Navigator
or Internet Explorer), rather than using an email program (such as Qualcomm
Communications' Eudora or Microsoft Outlook). The advantage of Web-based
email is that it can be retrieved and sent from any computer with an
Internet connection, whereas traditional email programs must be configured
on a specific computer to send and receive mail for a particular email
address.
NotWired makes security a priority. NotWired's Email Service utilizes
state-of-the-art security measures in its mail system architecture.
Mail stored on our email servers is accessible only by you and protected
by a secret password you select. If you log into NotWired's Email Service
from a public terminal, you can choose to have your pages expired so
nobody can look at your past email sessions
What is WAP-based email? Is it secure?
WAP-based email is electronic mail that can be sent and received from
a WAP site on the Internet. Using a Internet browser on your phone or
some other wireless device. The advantage of WAP-based email is that
it can be retrieved and sent from any device with a wireless Internet
connection giving you portability.
How do I add an e-mail account?
After you login to NotWired, go to the email application. From the email
application choose Accounts on the View combo box. You can then choose
to 'Add Account' and enter the mail account information.
What do "Cc:" and "Bcc:" mean ?
Cc: stands for "carbon copy." Anyone listed in the Cc: field
of a message will receive a copy of that message when you send it. All
other recipients of that message will be able to see that the person
you designated as a Cc: recipient has received a copy of the message.
Bcc: stands for "blind carbon copy." This is similar to the
Cc: feature, except that Bcc: recipients are invisible to all of the
other recipients of the message (including other Bcc: recipients). For
example, if you send a message To: johnsmith@notwired.com and Bcc: janesmith@notwired.com,
then johnsmith will see himself as the message's only recipient, while
janesmith will see that you have also sent the message to johnsmith.
To send a message, you must always specify at least one recipient in
the To: field. If you don't, an error message will appear when you attempt
to send the message.
Please note: Sending unsolicited mail or "spam" is a violation
of the NotWired Mail Terms of Service and won't be tolerated.
How do I reply to a message?
To reply to a message that you have received in your NotWired Mail account,
you must first open the message on your screen. When the message is
open:
1. Click the "Reply" link at the top of the message window to reply
only to the sender of the message. If you would like to send your reply
to all of the other recipients of the message in addition to the sender,
click the "Reply All" link.
2. A Compose Mail window will appear. If you clicked the "Reply" link,
the sender's email address will appear in the "To:" field. If you clicked
the "Reply All" link, then in addition to the sender's address, the
addresses of all of the other recipients will appear in the "To:" and/
or "Cc:" fields, according to the way they were listed in the original
message. You can also add new email addresses if you wish.
3. Depending on your "Preferences" setting*, in the large text window
you will see quoted all, part, or none of the sender's message. A quoted
message will be set off by ">" symbols on the left margin.
4. Type your reply. If you have quoted the sender's message, you can
type in the area above the sender's message as well within the sender's
message itself.
5. Click the "Send" button to send your reply.
Can I save an unfinished e-mail as a draft without sending
it?
To save an unfinished email composition without sending it, click the
"Save to Drafts" button near the top of the Compose Mail window.
Once you have saved a draft, you can open it at any time by doing the
following:
- Choose the "Folders" selection from the View combo box on the top
left portion of the mail application.
- Choose the "Drafts" folder from
the folder list and click on it.
- Click on the message you wish to continue composing.
Saving draft messages is an excellent way to create templates for form
letters. Messages saved in your Draft folder will remain there until
you delete them.
Also, if you attach a file to a composition and then save it as a draft,
the text of your composition will be saved, but the attached file will
not. You will need to reattach the file before sending the message.
If I send a message to someone, how can I tell if they've received
and read it?
Currently, it is not possible to tell if others have received the messages
that you've sent to them.
However, if you don't receive your email back with an error message,
you can be certain that it has been received by your recipient's mail
system. Unfortunately, this doesn't indicate that the message has been
opened or read.
How can I add an attachment to a message?
You can send all types of files as attachments, including word processor
or spreadsheet documents, audio files, image files (.bmp, .jpg., .gif,
etc.), web pages saved as HTML files, and more. Attachments are limited
to 2MB in size unless you pay for premium NotWired services.

the instructions for Netscape users above. If not, please consult your
browser's help file for information regarding file uploads.
Why do I get "quota exceeded" message when I use
email?
NotWired imposes limits on the size and number of messages you can store
on our email servers. In order to keep your storage under quota do the
following:
NotWired Web Client:
Select messages and use "Delete Selected" link to permanently
delete messages. You will not be able to move messages into "Trash"
folder since it is included when measuring quota.
Other IMAP Clients(Outlook, Outlook Express, etc...):
Select messages and use "Delete" option on the "Edit"
menu. Use "Purge Deleted Messages" option on the "Edit"
menu to permanently delete messages. You will not be able to move message
into "Trash" folder since it is included when measuring quota.
You can request higher quota limits for a fee by clicking here.
